AB 130 Independent Study Option

LGSUHSD plans to resume full-time in-person learning when school starts August 12. This means that students will be back in the classroom, five days a week, for the full duration of the school day, just as we were prior to the pandemic.  In addition for the 2021-22 school year, LGSUHSD will offer an independent study option to students and families whose student’s health (or that of a household member) would be put at risk by in-person instruction.

In the Independent Study Program, students will participate in all of their classes through Independent Studies. They will receive standards-aligned assignments to complete independently at home. Teachers will monitor student progress, grade assignments, hold virtual office hours, and schedule individual virtual meetings as needed.

Notification of Independent Study Option

Email Director Jamal Splane at jsplane@lgsuhsd.org to request enrollment. You will be contacted to schedule a virtual meeting to discuss the expectations of the Independent Study Program and the eligibility requirements for participation. If eligibility is confirmed, the LGSUHSD Independent Study Master Agreement will be completed and signed by the parent or guardian. Your student will then be registered in the Edgenuity Learning Portal and will receive a confirmation email that your student has been registered with Edgenuity.

If you have further questions about Independent Studies or the application process, please contact Director Jamal Splane 408-354-2520 x246 or email at jsplane@lgsuhsd.org.
